Trauma-Informed Yoga with Joanne Spence

Trauma is not primarily an emotional response. Trauma happens in the body. As a body-based practice, yoga and the teaching of yoga has a lot to offer those with trauma. But how do we as yoga teachers need to adapt and accommodate our teaching in order to be trauma-informed? Come, learn, and be expertly guided by trauma-informed yoga teacher and yoga therapist, Joanne Spence. As a master trainer and the author of Trauma-Informed Yoga: A Toolbox for Therapists: 47 Practices to Calm, Balance, and Restore the Nervous System (PESI, 2021), Joanne will intersperse didactic teaching with experiential learning and small group facilitation. Participants will be experiencing/practicing trauma-informed yoga each day. This course is worth 8 CEU with Yoga Alliance, but you do not have to be a yoga teacher to attend.

This training will run over two days, Saturday and Sunday, February 12 and 13, from 1-5:30pm. The fee for the training is $225.

Workshop

Max Strom - Some Doors Open Only from the Inside: The healing Power of Cathartic Breath-Work

The voice of our intuition and wisdom is commonly drowned out by the noise in our mind. This noise is often caused by chaotic or congested emotions from stress, depression, anxiety, or PTS. Focused breathing patterns can spark within us the reawakening of our higher nature, the voice of intuition, wisdom, and conscience. The practices you will learn in this workshop will take you to new depths of insight and inspire you for weeks to come. Max has taken this work around the world to people of many faiths and nationalities.

Workshop

Max Strom - Teacher Training - First Aid Kit for Grief

This is a training especially designed for teachers, teachers in training and (health) caregivers. However, anyone interested in the topic can join. As a teacher, what do you do when someone in your class falls apart into grief? How do you adapt your class to a time such as now when there are so many of us grieving? Most teacher trainings lack any guidance whatsoever in this critical, very human, and ever-present emotion. This 3-hour training will show you how to hold space for your students who are grieving in a way that makes them feel seen, cared for, and that they belong in your community. The training explains a new understanding of the interconnectedness between grief and timacy/meaningful connection. This one-of-a-kind event includes lecture, self-enquiry, writing, teaching and leadership methodology, and breathwork.

Bring writing materials.

Workshop

Max Strom - Total Relaxation

Learn and experience how to relax deeply. We will begin with a talk by Max, then move into a very gentle movement sequence that is simple yet profoundly affective. In the second half of the workshop we will focus on floor postures and breathing patterns to release the mind and body from long-held stress and tension that impedes our happiness and our ability to sleep. This special event will help you rest like you did long ago.
