High-Intensity Interval Training, Yin Yoga, and Myofascial Release

Bring your mat, a towel, and water! Join Richard to maximize your workout while being safe. First, we’ll practice 15 minutes of myofascial releases to prep our joints and connective tissues, as well as prime our lymphatic system. Then we’ll sweat through 45 minutes of cardio HIIT routines, which are a boon to our metabolism, cardiac fitness, and biomarkers. Finally, we’ll soften into 45 minutes of Yin Yoga, which releases tight connective tissues and has been shown to decrease stress. After age 30, we begin to lose as much as 5% muscle mass per decade. We also lose bone density, elasticity and lymphatic flow. A thoughtful, well-designed routine can slow these processes down, and may reverse some. Richard (who is 45) has designed a template that feels safe and effective for him, and has grounded this template in six studies on exercise and aging.

The Art of Touch: Yoga Adjustments with Richard Gartner

In this fun and informative 2-day workshop, we explore four types of adjustments, each providing a dynamic and thoughtful yoga experience for your students and clients. Techniques for all foundational poses are demonstrated, and you’ll get plenty of practice time. You’ll even learn how to make an adjustment without any touch at all. With confident adjustments, students develop trust in themselves, the practice, and their teacher. Students and clients will foster a deeper self-connection. We discuss preserving a student’s autonomy, which also builds trust. The cost of the workshop includes a handout, plus access to photos and videos of the techniques. You’ll also receive a Certificate of Completion, and Yoga Alliance members receive 12 hours of CEC. This workshop is 2 days, October 15 and 22.

Kundalini Yoga for Healing with Leta

Kundalini Kriya (actions), Mantra (chanting), Mudra (hand gestures) and Yantra (geometric designs) will be employed to help us heal from our physical, emotionally and spiritual afflictions. Students of all levels of experience are welcome to participate. The session will end with a healing Gong Bath.
