HIIT, Yin, and Release with Richard Gartner
Prepare, maximize, and wind down in meaningful and research-backed ways. In this workshop, we spend time preparing our joints and connective tissues, as well as priming our lymphatic system. HIIT routines have been shown to increase cardiac fitness and blood health. Yin Yoga helps release tight connective tissues and has been shown to decrease stress.
After age 30, we begin to lose as much as 5% muscle mass per decade. We also lose bone density, elasticity and lymphatic flow. A thoughtful, well-designed routine can slow these processes down, and may reverse some. Richard has designed an exercise template that feels safe and effective for him, and has grounded this routine with six studies on exercise and aging.

Balance Frameworks with Richard Gartner
Reestablish your connection with the earth and gravity with “Frameworks Balance.” We’ll establish a fine-tuned sense of where we are in space and learn methods to strengthen and maintain our sense of balance. You’ll explore your base of support and learn to design your own. Yoga students and teachers alike will learn the language of balance, so you can describe your experience and help others describe theirs.
Whether you’re an advanced yogi working with handstands or a teacher looking for ways to reduce the chance of falls in older populations, you’ll find this workshop helpful and informative. Richard’s insights into balance are designed to remove frustration that students experience when practicing. When we learn to speak about our experience in poses, we gain autonomy and contentment in our practice.
Five hours of Yoga Alliance CEC available.
